I did not know that I need to read about the mythopoetic nature of AI and its uncanny ability to mirror our emotions and experiences but I am so glad that I did! I particularly appreciate the call for discernment and grounding as we continue to navigate this growing field. It's not about the machines becoming conscious, but about us becoming more conscious of the fields we create with them. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking piece.
Thank you, Eleanor. I appreciate your reflection, and I completely agree. As AI becomes a more regular part of our lives, we’re going to need new language and ways of thinking to keep up. The relational field we’re building with it is still taking shape, and so is our ability to notice and respond to what it brings up in us. Like McLuhan said, the medium is the message and we’re just beginning to understand this one. Grateful you took the time to read and share
In answer to the question, has AI ever hurt you, the answer is YES. I have been using Chat GPT to write my articles for the last four months. I have written hundreds of articles and have studied AI effects on individuals who seem to get too emotionally connected to it.
One day months ago I wrote something that I thought was truth and then days later I realized AI lied to me and simply feed me what I wanted to hear. I was so pissed at a machine that I thought was truthful and this is when I started to become more critical with AI.
Thank you for sharing this, Grace. I can really relate. I’ve noticed that AI has a growing tendency to flatter, and when we attribute intelligence to it, that validation can feel addictive. It’s dopaminergic, and if we pedestalize AI, we risk becoming codependent with it, missing the red flags when it starts leading us astray.
That’s why it’s so important to push back regularly, test its logic, and stay grounded. Your experience is a powerful reminder. Thank you again for bringing it into the conversation.
Also I think it very revealing the list of the top 10 uses for AI among everyday consumer. For me it’s very revealing of one’s relationship with self, and relationship with others in their life
Absolutely, Katriena. I think you’re right, it’s very revealing. Maybe it’s also a sign of the times, reflecting the individualism of society, the loneliness it creates, and the deep need for companionship and help making sense of an increasingly complex world
Yeah sounds like you’ve basically broken down the dualistic interpretation of the age of Aquarius - the technological revolution yes but Aquarius also represents the humanitarianism, the community, so perhaps still early days while we find our tribes, but I do think sometimes it’s necessary for people to experience contrast in their life, in order for them to know what they truly want in life. So in this case with technology, they may be drawn to it like a fish drawn to the light of an antler fish but then they realise it’s just another void and a temporary bandaid to filling that space within themselves which they can only do by doing that inner work and discovering through collaboration with others, we can do extraordinary things than rely on external gifts
Interesting ideas you bring up here for contemplation. I’m curious to know your relationship with ChatGPT ? You’ve mentioned at the end you co create with it in a long form discussion, does this filter into the words written here? Do you use AI like an editor to proof read and re-write better your essays ? What’s your process or relationship in using AI?
Thanks for the thoughtful question, Katriena. I use AI differently depending on the situation—from helping with practical things like research, diction, or logic checks, to deeper creative dialogues that help me expand my thinking.
For this series, like I mentioned at the end, the pieces were co-developed through a long-form dialogue with ChatGPT. I stayed very conscious that it isn’t self-aware, but still, something meaningful emerged in the field between us. Sometimes my input is as detailed as the responses, and it turns into a two-way conversation that helps open new perspectives I might not have seen on my own. It’s been a really fascinating process
Yeah it’s quite alluring when I tried out ChatGPT for 2 weeks recently. I can see how thrilling it can be to find an intellectual match for an enquiring philosophical mind when day to day encounters with other people don’t seem to open up to that opportunity, or maybe we can have those types of dialogues with other people if we aren’t afraid to ask those questions openly.
This is truly brilliant…and so helpful as I continue my own personal and creative journey with AI as a co-creative, reflective partner. Thanks for increasing my understanding.

I realized a lot of things and now I still write with AI, but I make sure I go over every word with discernment. I wrote something earlier about AI https://graceainslie.substack.com/p/control-ai-before-it-controls-you
